I cant believe Oliver Reed, Carol Lynley and Gig Young were in this trash. I barely got through it, they must have needed the money.
It really was not a horror film it was more of a in-breed, crazy family movie. And the incest scenes were not thrilling they were sickening!

Hahahaha!!! What incest scenes? Before you trash a classic horror film i suggest you know what you are talking about, or at least see the movie beforehand. Incest scenes? Are you sure you didnt pop in a home movie of your family by mistake??

I wouldn't call The Shuttered Room a classic, but I think it's a terrific little film, and things that really impressed me upon seeing it again on Halloween night on TCM were the pleasure in seeing four super-fine performances (Young, Robson, but especially Lynley and Reed) again -- and also how I'd previously never consciously realized how extremely well-directed and photographed the film is. Just beautiful filmmaking. If anything, it's the writing that's the film's weak link, but the superlative casting, acting, direction and cinematography more than make up for that.

Wasn't the Judith Arthy Character (Emma), the one with the big boobs that hung out with the thugs, the Oliver Reed Character's sister? And didn't he fondle and play with her breasts?
If she was, I've never caught that in all the times I've seen the film.
Which, actually, is entirely within the realm of possibility, for me...

Keep in mind if you are watching the film on tv it has probably been edited...anyone know if the movie: Kinife Edge (2008) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0810924/) is related to this?

At one point (right before he begins his second attempt at raping her), Oliver Reed's character tells Lynley that they have the same aunt (Robson), so that would seem to make them, at the very least, first cousins. He does manage to kiss her, as well as gnawing on her ear (in his first attempt at raping her), so I think that could qualify as incestuous, even with no actual sexual penetration having occurred.
