Question: How did Flint get it to the spaceship?

How did Flint get it to the spaceship next to Gen. Carter, without Carter noticing ? Was the scene cut or did my brain fade it out?

Flint just entered the capsule and sat in the chair next to Carter. Gen. Carter even acknowledged Flint entering the capsule. He said "Mr. Flint." in a very welcoming tone. Then launch.

The launch was imminent. Not staying strapped in would have killed him.
