The last man?
i can't remember the ending, but in the end doesn't the last man hang himself before Eastwood catches him

The last member of the lynch mob that we actually see Eastwood catch up with in the movie, Captain Wilson, played by Ed Begley, does hang himself when he realizes that he is alone and cornered by Eastwood.
However, there are still two more to go at the end of the movie, Blackfoot and Maddow, that have warrants on them and Eastwood has not caught yet.
