Ok movie, One Great Scene

This movie is pretty good, some good camerawork, some good acting, nothing special for the most part, but can we agree that the scene in which the young blonde men are hanged is spectacular? Such pathos, such moral ambiguity. The looks on their faces juxtaposed with the black humor of the hardened criminals, with the man giving the speech on the evils of alcohol in the background, all fit together to create one awesome scene that comments on the tragedy of the justice system. Anyone agree?

The hanging scene was indeed good, but the movie in egeneral relatively average. The music score was overbearing and the overuse of zoom camera annoying

Exactly. The six-man hanging scene was done well, and so was The Prophet scene, thanks largely to two real professionals, Ben Johnson and Dennis Hopper. Every other scene was as standard as a Bonanza script. Imagine if Hitchcock had directed this...you'd have much less of that overpowering music, the hangings would have been more severely depicted for each man, etc.

"Howwww?"
"Could be raining."
