Bob Steele Returns - High Speed Horse Rider and Trick Rider
I immediately recognized Bob Steele during last few minutes of this film.
He portrayed a bearded "old geezer" lying on floor talking to Clint for a few
minutes. Good make-up to make him look older than his real age, 61. I haven't
seen Bob in over 40 years in movies. Back in the 1930s and 1840s, he was famous
for being a high speed horse rider. His horses were trained to start off at high
speed from a standstill - the trick was the horses would start off while Bob was in the air before landing in the saddle. He was a hero to boys back in those old
B western movies. Later I realized - he was a good actor too.
Pat Hingle was a neighbor of mine in Rockland County, NY, though I never met him.
In the late 1970s, he met with a high school class concerning his acting career.
When he asked if there were any questions, my daughter asked him, "How did you
lose your little finger?". I forget his answer - accident, I think. He has a
big part in this movie - a fine actor.
I must see this movie from the beginning.
