It's been a number of years since this movie went into DVD format but as of 2006 the movie still has a grainy, faded picture. Any news if MGM will release a new film transfer of this movie on DVD? It certainly deserves it. Amazon, Google and Wikipedia don't reveal anything.

shareYou may have found this by now, but the Blu-ray has a much improved picture, and was released both on its own and in a 2-disc version with a DVD copy. I don't think the new version was released on DVD alone, but the 2-discer is pretty cheap, so it might be worth buying just for the DVD.

I'm late to this but Shout Factory released a 50th anniversary bluray with two commentaries and the trailer.
