shareHe's just being cavalier, as if he's going to survive the hanging and be able to enjoy it later on.
sharehe felt naked without it in his pocket; like dying with your boots on.
shareI think he just loved chewing tobacco and wanted to die with a pack of it in his pocket.
shareI like the look he gave Danno the Preacher while the hangman was stuffing it in his pocket. He really seemed to be enjoying himself.
shareYeah, it was symbolic, he wanted to die with at least some tobacco in his possession. Personally I would have preferred some nice hydro bud. :P
shareHe had a michevious look on his face and was almost laughing. I think he was asking for those things solely to be jerk and because he knew the executioner would have to do it since it's his last wish. Perhaps to show off what little control of the situation he still had left?
shareWhatever it meant, the old guy went out game, didn't he? Hope I'm as game, when the time comes.
"It ain't dying I'm talking about, it's LIVING!"
Captain Augustus McCrae
I certainly agree Captain Gus. I can only hope to do the same myself.
Some people die well and some die poorly. If I ever get a terminal illness I'm not going to tell a soul about it if I possibly can. To me suffering in silence is a huge strength. The big down side to this is that it'll leave your true friends and family feeling bad that they did not help you through the last days because they didn't know you were sick. I had a good friend do this. She kept her illness to herself right up to the day she died. I still feel guilty that I did not catch what was going on and help her out. There is nobody who can fake being in good health like a nurse can. That lady died well.
Sounds like a bad idea
shareYou're the only one to actually nail it!
