Looked like Tom Cruise...

Did anyone else think that in this movie Clint Eastwood kinda looked like Tom Cruise...or was it just me?

reply

I don't see it.

if anyone looked like Tom Cruise in this film, it would be Bruce Dern with his massive teeth. Maybe they both use the same dentist?

Here. Try my glasses. It might help...

Not as much as Demi Moore does.

Clint Eastwood is 6'4", handsome and rugged. Tom Cruise is good lokking, but is 5'7" at the most and is certainly not rugged looking. He often looks like a little twerp. although he's a fine actor. There is no similarity whatsoever.

Has it been that long since you had your eyes checked?

I don't see it: Clint looks straight to me...

Don't think so. Eastwood is authentically male, Cruise just acts it.

... line of the day.

I've never for a moment thought that Eastwood in this film resembles Cruise, and I concur with the poster who said that if anything, Cruise resembles Bruce Dern here (a city slicker version of Dern, of course).

Personally, I don't understand some people's obsession with comparing yesteryear's stars to contemporary ones in terms of appearance or resemblance. Indeed, I see these threads and I wonder why folks aren't paying greater attention to the films themselves.

Here's something I wondered about:
At the beginning Clint has very neat hair, sort of average young man.
And I thought immediately of the once or twice I have seen him in the TV series 'Rawhide' Ah ah! Ted Post directing, has that got any bearing?

Throughout the film Clint gets to look increasingly mean, there is a noir type shot near the end. close-up, his face beneath the hat, all shadow and gouged cheeks and the hair.. the swept back anachronistic style that he stayed with for so long, Suddenly he is 'Dirty Harry' he is the 'man with no name' ..the 'angel of death'.
