Im guessing that was meant to be The Good, the Bad and the Ugly?

The post you replied to has been deleted but I guess you know it is the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. If you haven't yet you really should check it out one day; bloody awesome movie.

A lot of the music in this movie sounded way too much like Good, Bad, Ugly stuff, but it really paled in comparison. You're not gonna top Ennio Morricone.

"...always played at duals..."?

Do you mean "duels"...as in "gunfights?"

If you're referring to this film ("Hang 'Em High"), the music is variations on the main theme music of the movie, which is titled...well..."Hang 'Em High."

I do think, as other posters have mentioned, you're thinking of the main theme music from "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly," another Clint Eastwood film entirely.

The theme to this movie sounds like the Gilligans Island song

I dated a woman who claims that her sorority watched this one night, and they all began singing the names of the "Gilligan's Island" castaways every time the "Hang em High" theme played. As a freaky side note, Alan Hale Jr. appears in both "Hang em High" and "Gilligan's Island."

I think it's more....

AHHHEEEEAHHHHEEEEAHHHHH.....WAH WAH WAH...

butYMMV.

Actually (and I'm still looking forward to one day seeing "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly"), I think I know to what you're referring, because it reminded me of some of the music in "True Grit." In TG listen to the music when outlaw Tom Chaney is explaining about the rattlesnakes in the pit. That theme (attributed to the great Elmer Bernstein) or something close to it is heard in H'EH also.
