Christina looked to be insulted
When Hilary said, "I wish you every happiness", Christina later said Hilary was an absolute bitch. "I wish you every happiness" is being a bitch? I don't understand that.

shareI thought Hillary was nosy more than bitchy. I didn't understand the scene where she was fired.

She refers to Christinas reaction to them in the art gallery. She was obviously disapproving of them being together. Is that the first use of the word bitch in a movie?
shareI mean HILARY's reaction in the gallery.
shareBette Davis calls Olivia de Haviland 'a vile, sorry little bitch' in "Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte" (1964). There may have been earlier films using the word. Not sure.
shareProbably not. I remember how they skirted censors in 1939 with The Women. Crystal Allen (Joan Crawford): "There's a word for you ladies, but it's seldom used outside of a kennel."
