The white silver-haired patriarch mansplained to everybody how important it was that he approve of the relationship, and having set them to nodding with emotional gratitude that he had finally approved, he then got to tell the black bloke's father that someday, with the white man to teach him, he too would stop being racist about things.

Wow people really use the word "mansplain" un-ironically? I guess you really do learn something new every day!

I've been trying to figure out if the female version is "shexplain".

Maybe it should be "blaxplain" given how generously he was instructing Sidney Poitier's daddy. I think in any modern remake, they might not go that route at the ending...
