Emma Fairfax will be treated like a man

That's what Doctor Dolittle tells her after she sneaks into his quest to find the giant pink snail, as boats are no place for womans, Emma agrees to be treated as such and what does Doctor Dolittle puts her to do? Scrub the floor and cook for the the ship crew while the rest of the men just watch her working in this chores.
That was one of the worst things in the movie for me.

I thought it was funny.

Both of which are jobs that would normally be done by men on a ship.

Another reason why it's funny. Because it's a man's job on a ship. And because it's normally thought of as women's work. You also have to take into mind that she had probably never done these things in her life. I'm sure she grew up with servants doing everything.

I don't understand who or how or what any man thinks that cleaning and cooking is being treated like a man.

Even in the 21st century, such work is STILL primarily a woman's job (with or without a husband and/or children).
