Besiege a fortress?
I´ve read that never in the history of "far west" a fortress was besieged by indians, on the contrary, indians usually evade fortress.

shareOh they dd invade occasionally but usually they had better tactical sense (rather than strategic which they didnt generally have) to go for cutting them off and ambushing supply convoys
shareThe western Indians never captured an army post but they did raid horses, etc. from them and sometimes attacked or besieged them. Fort Defiance, Arizona was attacked by 2,000 Navaho in 1860, Fort Apache, Arizona, was attacked by Apaches in 1881, and Fort Ridgely, Minnesota, was attacked by Santee Sioux in 1862.
shareDuring Red Cloud's War they did hold a number of outposts on the Bozeman under virtual siege.
shareIt is a "movie,"not an interpretation of alleged historical events.
What you read means nothing, unless you were/are an elderly man who grew up then as I did.
The film is a good diversion for entertainment purposes.
