why 'la chinoise?'

if im not mistaken, "la chinoise" translates to "The Chinese." I understand that the Chinese and socialism were discussed in the film but Germans were talked about even more and also Americans and the French. Just wondering why JLG chose that title. it doesnt seem very apt or appropriate. other than that it was a fantastic film. i didnt enjoy as much thought because im not very interested in politics, but despite that, i still thought it was great.

It's a French-language pun.

"On the most obvious level, [the title] is a reference to the Chinese Cultural Revolution of 1966, introducing the theme of politically-minded young people ready to heed the advice of Chairman Mao in the pursuit of the Communist ideal. However, in French, "Chinoise" can also refer to a kind of nonsense; "chinoiserie" = "an unnecessary complication" or "c'est du chinois" = "it's all Greek to me"
