My friend and I noticed some similarities to the characters in Camelot and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Post if you come up with anything else
King Arthur- Arthur (obviously) Guenivire (sp?)- not sure Pellinore- Prince Herbert's father Merlyn- Tim the Enchanter Lancelot- Lancelot (obviously) and Galahad Mordred- The Black Knight with Tim the Enchanter's accent Morgan Le Fey- The Knight of 'Ni' (in the stage version she makes demands for things and has her group of dancers) Dap- Concorde (Lancelot's squire)
Perhaps, just a wild guess here, they are both based on the medieval Arthurian tradition?
No, really, it is a question I was asking as well. Now I must admit I did not see this play but other people have suggested it before. Is there really a likelines or is it just coincidence triggered by assiciation? In other words, is it in our minds or can you perhaps name a few examples?
I've never seen the play, but I've heard the soundtrack and I made that connection. I've only heard a few songs, but The song that goes like this reminds me of Camelot and You won't succeed if you don't have any jews reminds me of Julie Andrews in the original stage version.
Watching Camelot, I couldn't help but think that I was watching a Bizarro version of the Holy Grail with a better budget. Either that or the Christopher Guest Version where everyone just plays it straight. This feeling struck me most when Launcelot first appears, and also when he's on the road to Camelot garbed in more armor than humanly possible. I literally was looking on the dvd menu to see if there was a MST3K commentary track that I forgot to turn on.
