Looking for answers to questions

I've just watched Camelot for the first time in many years. My questions:

1. Why does Richard Harris wear so much eye makeup? Was it his idea, or someone else's? It was very distracting for me.

2. Why was this movie so damn long? I left the room for the middle part.

3. Did they not have the budget to film the outdoor scenes outdoors?

4. Why have the characters dress in 60's-style clothing? In the opening scene, King Arthur is wearing Sonny Bono's fur vest.

But don't get me wrong. I really enjoyed the campy experience and I'll go back and watch the scenes I missed. I just think this movie could have been seriously good without too much effort. Too bad they made so many mistakes.

1- Well i cant imagine it was anything to do with him, perhaps it was ment to give more of a fairytale vibe?

2- Because people had no trouble getting involved with and sitting through long films back then

3- These were the days of hollywood films, an as much as possible was shot in hollywood backlots. Though alot of it outside is outside...only the one snowy scene and that wouldve meant scouting an moving everythign to a perfect snowy wood in russia or something, not worth it

4- Because it was an arthurian enterpretation shot in the 60's

A lot of the outdoor scenes were shot in Spain.

1) He thought he was playing Guenevere.

2) It wasn't that long--it just seemed like it due to Logan's plodding direction.

3) No, they spent half the budget on Harris's eye makeup.

4) The question is why did people in the '60s dress like they did in Merry Olde England.

Because Richard Harris was pushing 40 and portraying a 19-year-old in the early scenes. The eye makeup was a rather clumsy effort to make him appear younger. It was less evident in the later scenes, as the characters were supposed to be aging.
