I'm sorry, I know this movie was made 40 years ago, and that it was an emotional scene, but jeez!
Lancelot got so close to the knight's MOUTH that it was hard to take the scene seriously! It looked like he was about to make out with him, and the whole chest massage was a little questionable, too!
...and what the hell was up with that ending? Sheesh!
Ok...first of all, the chest rubbing thing was Lance trying to get Diniden's heart or lungs going again (for a really unrelated kiddie example, think of 101 Dalmations when Roger rubs the supposedly dead puppy...)
Lance was holding him so close because he was praying for him not to die, and he was holding him at a slightly odd angle, so it's not that weird how close he was....
And the ending? Well, that can't be helped, it's the only ending the story could have that wouldn't be completley hoaky, in my humble opinion...
That's exactly what my father pointed out! He said that many of the movements and actions go with CPR. Lancelot accidentally performs it! Actually, I always thought that was such an interesting sequence as he gives the breath of life to the fallen knight.
How on Earth could anyone mistake that for "make out"?! I really do question that person's judgment! I guess that's an example of a mind in the gutter.
