If a new movie was made who would play Bonnie and Clyde

They were very young when they started out. Bonnie was 19 and Clyde was 21.

Any thoughts who could play them today?

Reese Witherspoon and Leonardo Decaprio.

No need to speculate, it's happening.

Tonya S. Holly is in Central Louisiana this week scouting locations and office space for the film about Depression-era bank robbers Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker. "Right now, we're looking for office space," said Holly, who is writer, director and producer on the project. "We have found most of our locations, but we're still looking for a few." Holly hopes to start shooting on "The Story of Bonnie and Clyde" in the fall, pending actors' schedules meshing. Hilary Duff and Kevin Zegers have been cast in the lead roles, alongside noted actors such as Michael Madsen, Cloris Leachman, Peter Coyote, Thora Birch and Lee Majors.
Should shooting start in the fall, Holly said she is hoping for a May 2010 release.

Hilary Duff

Either she will suck big time and become a huge laughingstock or this will make her career a la Jessica Simpson during her "Newlyweds" phase... I honestly don't know which one will happen.

The real Clyde was just a skinny kid who loved running amuck in his V-8 Ford as much as he loved Bonnie. He was also psychologically scarred by being raped in prison, an act that precipitated his first murder. And the real Bonnie was a borderline alcoholic, injured so badly by those car chases she could barely walk. So, if a more realistic portrait were to be filmed, it should take this into account instead of the glorified stars that Penn's movie made them out as. Not only that, but instead of actors in their 30's, they'd have to select kids in their early 20's that were bored to death. However Penn's movie did accurately show them as seekers of excitement, rather than criminal masterminds. I'd think the best selection for the 2 would be found in unknown actors who weren't saddled with movie star glorification the way Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were. In other words, avoid Colin Farrell and Naomi Watts and go to Texas and find a couple of feckless, excitement seeking plain folk that would fit the bill much more aptly than famous and beautiful stars. Look to "Go Down Together: The True, Untold Story of Bonnie and Clyde" by Jeff Guinn to get a more accurate portrayal of what those 2 kids were actually like.

How about Johnny Depp and Christina Applegate?

Funny, I was thinking Johnny Depp and Julia Stiles

reply

I think even Johnny Depp would agree that he's too old to play Clyde.

It would actually be great to cast a couple of unknowns who are really from Texas, excellent actors and look a lot like the real Bonnie and Clyde. Imagine how cool that would be. But wait a minute - we're talking Hollywood here. It'll never happen.

reply

Hahaha! I'm cracking up at the Johnny Depp suggestion. Seriously? The man could be Clyde's father. He's 46, which makes him 21 years older than Clyde was when he was killed. Hell, even he was 14 years too old (45 when it was filmed) to play John Dillinger in the recent PUBLIC ENEMIES movie, who was just one month shy of his 31st birthday when he was gunned down.

As for Christina Applegate, she's 38, 15 years older than Bonnie was at the time of her death. Julia Stiles is closer in age (28 years old), but that still seems too old.

People have to remember that Bonnie was still a teenager (19) and Clyde was two months shy of his 21st birthday when they met in January 1931. Basically, kids.

They should definitely remake Bonnie and Clyde!

Clyde--Justin Timberlake
Bonnie--Miley Cyrus
Buck--Taylor Lautner
Blanche--Jessica Alba
CW--Will Ferrell

Maybe they could get James Cameron to direct it in 3-D! That would be, like, sooooo totally KEWL!

We'll see whose the filthiest person alive! We'll just see!

reply

You people crack me up. Bonnie and Clyde were barely 20 and I hear suggestions like Dicaprio and Depp or Witherspoon and Applegate lmao. Really? How about they do not even do a remake or if they do a Bonnie and Clyde movie , make it realistic and not romanticized.

reply

The best answer to this question is to not even attempt to re-make this classic. It will no doubt be a disaster of a movie. Hollywood has apparently run out of original ideas and as a result depends heavily on making ridiculous "re-makes". Leave this alone and try something new.

reply

I hope such travesty never happens.

Remake? what for? The movie is still better than over 90% of the movies released by Hollywood since B&C premiered back in 1967.

reply

The remake will be just another crap movie remake like all of the others. It's been done well, why besmirch the originals? Unbelievable.

There was a "Bonnie & Clyde" 2013 miniseries starring Emile Hirsch as Clyde Barrow and Holliday Grainger as Bonnie Parker. The two part film aired on consecutive nights simultaneously on A&E, History and Lifetime.
