It's a pity Madonna can't act...

...because I think she'd make a great Bonnie. Faye Dunaway was far too glamorous - Bonnie, by the standards of her time was an attractive woman but Dunaway could never have caught that hungry, Depression Era look that Bonnie had. Madonna has it in my opinion, but having seen her previous attempts at acting I would never let her loose on a role like this.

U serious? Its the best role by Faye Dunaway and she acted great my friend.

reply

I agree entirely, she's amazing, just too darn purdy!

reply

I fully agree that Madonna can't act, just as she can barely sing, but do you really think she looks like she's from the Depression? And how would she make a great Bonnie? Her ability to strike a pose? I didn't know this film was being remade, so I hope you're speaking theoretically.

reply

Yes, of course, theoretically. I imagine there will be/has been trashy tv movies or exploitation flicks about Bonnie and Clyde but there are no plans for a big budget remake, apart from the Will Ferrell one.

I'm trying to choose my words carefully, but Madonna can do..."skanky" quite well. She seems to have a natural aptitude for it. I could imagine her growing up in a slum.

In the movie Clyde picks Bonnie up from a fairly middle class looking house so there's no real emphasis on how poor Bonnie was, but for realism Faye Dunaway was too glamorous and well-fed looking.

I was joking, but it seems nothing is as funny as life itself!

reply

I don't know if "well fed" describes Faye Dunaway in this film. Didn't you notice her skeletal back when she's leaning out the window? You could count every rib.

reply

Faye Dunaway was great in the role, she made it her own, but it's obviously not very accurate, she looks very 60's. I never thought she was too glamorous for it but I know what you mean about Madonna, you can see in her videos where she plays middle class or poorer characters like in Papa Don't Preach and La Isla Bonita, and it's amazing. Madonna would have been the greatest silent star.

I agree, the young Madonna would have really done the "desperate waifish" look well. If she could act, at least.

Madonna was in a movie with Harvey Keitel which the name slips my memory now, but that to me is her best acting, follwed by Evita (although she didn't actually have the voice for the part she did have the acting down).

Dunaway's best role by far was Evelyn Mulwrey.

'Madonna's not that bad of an actress, she's not really good, but overall I don't think she's terrible.'

I agree;it's either great or cannot act on imdb. There's a difference between cannot act and mediocre acting. In addition, I suppose Madonna is held to a different standard.

reply

It seems like an odd complaint, because there are no plans to actually cast Madonna as Bonnie, in a any kind of remake / reboot of this story.

Casting someone who's closing in on 60 as someone who died when she was 23?
