Clyde: Impotent?
Impotent or gay? I never heard/read anything to that effect. How come he is in this film. I know he was abused in prison, perhaps that had something to do with it. Any historians out there?

shareA fairly new biography by Jeff Guinn titled GO DOWN TOGETHER is regarded as very accurate and well done and the "bible" on Bonnie and Clyde. According to that book Clyde was abused in prison which started some stories but was not impotent or gay. This was an invention of the writers for movie purposes.
shareThank-you, I came here to find out myself.
If we can save humanity, we become the caretakers of the world
I thought maybe he was a virgin!
But who knows, maybe he went to jail right away - he didn't have a chance and wanted to maintain a sense of respectable authority in front of Bonnie. When they finally do it he was like "was that right?" Or something (like he didn't had any other reference)
In the original version of the script they described him as gay, which was later changed to impotent. Apparently in real life, he was neither.
shareHe was raped a lot in prison. I'm sure that had a profound effect on him.
