Do you feel it is farily bizarre that Mannix has languished unreleased?

I am not the least bit sure why Mannix has languished for so long in a officially unreleased state as it has, but in any event this has to be one of the dumbest moves considering the substantial fan base that still exists for this show that would gladly ante up for nice season sets on DVD!

Does anyone really know the truth as to why this is still in the can? It can't be objections from Mike Connors that's been holding this up.

Every year, the rights holders are losing money, and every year, a few more of us shuffle off into eternity who would have bought a set if it were only officially available, and every year, a few random people who sell bootleg versions of the show recorded off the air years ago make money that the rights holders should have made all because this show languishes in a unreleased state. I for one can't really blame fans of the show for buying a bootleg set in the vacuum left by the absence of Mannix on DVD.

That's just dumb and insane when one ponders the loss of sales that Mannix could have generated on DVD.

Goodness knows why it took SO LONG for the original Mission Impossible series and Hawaii 5-O to see the light of day on nicely remastered DVD sets. The fans are grateful, and I bought both sets when they hit the shelves. However, with the advent of Mod Squad to DVD, then Mannix should logically follow soon...I would think.

(On a side note, Hawaii 5-O came out for a bit on VHS in rather pricey sets that were not marketed and compiled very well, and I'm not sure about this, but perhaps a couple of episodes of Mannix were also released in a rather cheap manner not befitting such a quality show.)

The money that could be made from a proper season-by-season DVD release of this show is still substantial considering just how long it has been off the air and considering just how infrequently it is shown in repeats now.

I urge fans of the show to go and vote on the suggested websites that tally votes for unreleased shows to DVD, and to write the companies that hold the intellectual property rights fro Mannix to beg them to consider a proper season by season release to DVD.

It is long overdue.

The first season of "Mannix" is on DVD in the "gray market." I have 4 episodes including the pilot, "The Name Is Mannix." Try Steve Russo, PO Box 150, Revere MA 02151.

If you go to Amazon they are selling some episodes for 14 bucks each. Some company named Nostalgia home video is apparently putting them out. If you read some reviews it is basically a tape of the shows on DVD and of poor quality. I want to know why this show has not been released on season disc by the comapny that made the show? Time Warner released the Odd Couple before I believe Paramount did. People demanded the show come out in DVD and no one was listening except Time Warner. They were great. That is when Paramount listened. Now they are releasing season 3 because the first 2 seasons did so well. I believe that is the route to go. We can try to get Time Warner to release Mannix maybe its parent company will listen. Go to http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/ They keep you updated and you can go vote and request shows. They are pretty god in following up. I believe it was because of them Time Warner released The Odd Couple.

A recent story in the Washingon Post mentions the lack of DVDs, and the fact that seasons 1 and 8 rarely (if ever) see the light of day in syndication.
