I find it very hard to believe that Mannix hasn't been released on DVD yet.
Man ! with a bit of promo they could make a packet out of this show.
And also fill the need for collectors and fans as well.

Out of all the detective shows right up until the present there were some that were outstanding.
Mannix was one of them.
I hope soon something or someone gets the ball rolling and we get to see Joe Mannix.

I was going to say that "I'm not going to spend money and rent cable just to see Mannix again"
But maybe thats it , maybe its shows like Mannix that keep cable going.

Paramount is last in line of the studios when it comes to putting their back catalog of movies or TV series on DVD. So many of their classic movies are not on DVD yet ("The Conformist", Preston Sturges' films, etc), I am not surprised that this series isn't released yet either. This was one of my favorite shows when I was in high school.

People have lobbied to return "Mannix" to TV Land, as well as several seasons of the show that TV Land never showed. One of the Best,if not Finest private eye shows ever! Eight seasons of Action,Great Writing,Excellant Chemistry between Stars, and Musclecars! Please release a dvd set!!

Of all the old great 60s tv shows, "Mannix," "Mission Impossible," "Mod Squad" and "The Big Valley" deserve DVD sets most IMO. I loved Joe Mannix - he was the coolest detective on tv - and the show was so gritty, way ahead of its time. It still lives up to its hype years later. TV Land has succumbed to nauseating monotous sitcoms from the 70s and 80s, for some reason - most of which are available on DVD. They could have at least had a different lineup on weekends. TL sucks nowadays. Bring back Mannix.

I TOTALLY agree!!! We want Mannix on DVD. I (as well as many of my friends) would purchase all 8 seasons on DVD.
As for TVLand I have not watched them since they took off Mannix.

It was my favorite show when I was in last years of grade school. I would like to see the first season episodes because I don't remember them—maybe I started watching after that.
It was a wonder that Mannix didn't suffer from post-concussion syndrome. He seemed to be beat up or knocked out in every episode. And it's the first time I ever saw a car phone.

I really wish Mannix would be released on dvd. Sometimes I feel that there is a bias against television shows that ended before 2000. Mannix is a classic show which lasted at least five years. I sure many people would buy a Mannix Season One dvd.

reply

Yes my dad loved this show and when he taped it off TV Land and I really liked it. We have rarely watched TV Land since they started to take off all the really good shows and started putting on all of these paint by the numbers 60's and early 70's sitcoms.

If Paramount can released the complete first season of Mission:Impossible on DVD,why in the hell can they released the complete first season of Mannix?

Let give Mike Connors the total justice and respect that he gave this show.

It proudly deserves that honor.

Well, finally "Mod Squad" is coming out on DVD... sometime this year. "Big Valley" and "Mission: Impossible" came out, so I would imagine that "Mannix" has to be soon. Please go to http://tvshowsondvd.com, register (if not already) and VOTE for "MANNIX" - the studios are actually watching that site regularly.

I've given up on TV Land. They're interested in sitcoms and little else. Not even on the weekend. Same garbage for at least 5 years now. They have almost no classic dramatic shows on their schedule. Now they show TV Land movies. They could easily devote that 2 hour block to 2 dramas.

I also would like the complete series of Mannix, Cannon, Barnaby Jones, and Jake and the Fatman. They can't put these on DVD's soon enough for me!!!!

Put this a show on DVD Now! There have been so many junk shows on DVD why haven't they given this series the respect it deserves is a shame. I imagine the people who make decisions about what show gets released are 25 year olds that feel Punky Brewster is as good as it gets. These folks are not interested in the cop shows in the 70,s and 60's because they weren't born then, and have no incentive or curiosity to look at them. Cannon, Barnaby Jones, Harry O, Burkes Law, NYPD where are they at?

Paramount is especially egregious at this. They might have a 18 year old who is blind running the release department. Case in point one the most popular series ever, The Odd Couple. They didn't know that the Odd Couple was popular. Even after years and years of people writing in requesting it. Not until Time Life picked up the ball and released the first season did Paramount get into the game. So apparently request mean nothing to them and only when they saw another company make money from one of their programs then they release the Odd Couple themselves.

This may be coming out on June 3rd 2008. It's not written in stone; but according to tvshowsondvd.com; it's on it's way; let's keep our fingers crossed.

It's official! And about darn time!
Can't wait, will be a great upgrade to the ones I recorded off tv.
Just hope this release gets enough support to make it all the way to the last 2 seasons since they haven't been aired since the mid-70's.
