I wonder who came up with the idea that it should be turned into a show?

The pilot was closest to the book. Then it seemed to begin again.

I had heard that ABC originally wanted a show based on the 1966 hit movie 'The Singing Nun' (noticed how many eps Sally Field actually sings in season 1?), but could not get the rights to make it into a TV show, so they did the next best thing and made a TV show off the book. That's been the rumor for many years.

I prefer fantasy over reality TV - like Fox News. - B.Streisand
