When Loser steals the Police motorcycle, and is being pursued by the second cop up the winding road, we see the cop pull out his pistol and take a few shots at Loser, one of which hits him in the back.
So - How the Hell did the cop manage to use the motorcycle's throttle with his right hand whilst also using the same hand to fire the gun?
(There wan't any Cruise Control in 1966, man....)

I thought you were wondering what I did. How did the Bear catch him with the exact same bike when he was so far behind. Dean kept showing frustration about not getting more speed. Yet the exact same cop bike that should have been set up the same was able to catch up. One of the many things that made no sense.
shareI had a 68 harley and it had a twisting throttle...the throttle cable was on a spiral not spring like most are ..so you could turn the throttle and leave it and there would be no change
shareBefore U.S. federal safety regulations were in effect, the spring-return throttle was optional. The big Harleys usually had this push-pull type and yes it would stay where you left it without holding on. Ironically for the movie scene, the spring-return version is known as dead-man's throttle.
