Greatest Comedy Score EVER?

Jerry Goldsmith did a great job on this score, I'd be tempted to say this is one of the greatest comedy scores ever written! What do other people think?

I have the music soundtrack on cd and it's great. There are even a few songs from Where Angels Go Trouble Follows. I listen to it often and and it sounds beautiful and brings back alot of memories.

I think he perfectly blends humor, warmth and sadness with great flair and perfect timing. Comedy scores are difficult but Mr. Goldsmith, ever the professional, dilivered in spades with this one. I am still hoping for an expanded release on cd.

The opening credits theme is one of my all-time favorites. I LOVE IT! Whenever my iPod comes around to it, I end-up playing it about 5 times. Love the score and love the CD, though I wish it would be remastered CORRECTLY. Depending on what print you're listening to, you hear different instruments (like flutes, etc.) sounding louder than on other recordings.

Really? I'm listening to whatever print comes with the iTunes Stagecoach/TTWA package. Is there a release where the music sounds like the one from the film? I love the main title theme as well, Marching Band's my favorite, but I can't get enough of that Main Title Theme.

It does need a good remastering and a fuller album release! It's too bad it's more obscure and it might not get as much attention. But it's seriously the greatest comedy score ever written!

I agree that the score needs a new cd with the original tracks scored for the film, not the badly mastered remix for the original vinyl LP, which is what the cd is mastered from. It is still quite possible. Its not as obscure as you might think. It is a well loved score by fans of Mr. Goldsmith. Keep an eye out for new cds from Film Score Monthly (www.filmscoremonthly.com). They recently released a cd of Mr. Goldsmith's score to "The Satan Bug" (1965), a science fiction film not well-known. They have also released rare recordings of his "Flim-Flam Man" (1966), "The Prize" (1963), "Studs Linigan" (1960) and many others. As an aside, they have also released the original tracks and complete score to "Stagecoach" (1966) which is a much better representation of the score than the "Trouble With Angels"/"Stagecoach" recording that we all have.

Well, I think the quality of the recording on the CD is much better than the film's, but the mixing is what is so sucky! Still, we need more tracks either lengthened or added to a CD, and it is indeed a well-loved score after I visited JerryGoldsmithOnline. I hope they do release it! I hope so soon as well!
