20 years old?

I clicked on the Hayley Mills link in the casting credits, and it said that Hayley was born in 1946. The Trouble with Angels came out in 1966, so that means she was 20 when she filmed the movie. Is that right? In The Trouble With Angels, she doesn't look like she's 20 at all. Maybe 15 or 16 at the oldest.

Hayley always looked younger than her age, that was part of her charm I think.

I agree. she looks very young for her age. which is a good thing! bless her.

I'm surprised as well to hear that she was 20 when she made this film, because she certainly didn't look it. Hayley's looks always betrayed her age though.

Although I doubt any of you are still eyeing this thread, in case anyone else wanders by...

What about June Harding, the actress who played "Rachel"? She was born in Sept. of 1940, making her twenty-FIVE during filming!

(Not to mention the depressing thought that, in about 2 weeks, that cute perky "teenager" will be turning SIXTY-SEVEN!!!)

Unbelievable. She's supposed to have her own website. I thought it would be ready by now, maybe it is. I wrote to her last year and she wrote back and said that she hoped to have it going last winter. The website will have some of her artwork and some TTWA memorabilia.

She was nineteen when they shot the movie, and twenty when it was released. She always did look younger than her age. That characteristic is a huge advantage for a child actor.

I just saw a documentary on "To Kill a Mockingbird" where Mary Badham discussed the casting call for child actors. She was complimented by the casting agents for seeming much younger than nine years old (her actual age). In the movie, Scout was supposed to age from six years old to eight years old. So looking younger than her chronological age was a big advantage for Mary Badham, and for all other child actors too, I think.
