Hi I love this movie and I have only ever seen it from where Hayley Mills is on the bus. She's smoking and an old lady sitting nearby says, "Imagine! A child your age smoking"
"I'm not a child, madam, I'm a midget with bad habits".
What happens at the very beginning. What'd I miss??

Other than seeing the school bus travel to the train station, you're pretty much at the beginning.

Yes-and the ''Old Lady'' is Madge Blake. ''Batman's'' ''Aunt Harriet''.

She was NOT smoking on a bus. That was a train, and believe it or not, that was how most people did long distance travel up until the end of the 1960's.
