This is a real mystery,(one Ellery Queen would solve, lol). As Spence Tracy once remarked when Tracy got top billing over Katharine Hepburn in their movies, "It's a business, not a lifeboat". True. At the time of this movie, Jim Hutton had left MGM and was at Columbia for Charlton Heston's 'Major Dundee' and his big role in the remake of The More The Merrier called "Walk Don't Run" starring Cary Grant, and then the wonderfully funny "Who's Minding The Mint". And Hutton deserved some sort of billing, perhaps "Special Appearance by Jim Hutton" or something like that.

Jim Hutton had a great body of work with Horizontal Lieutenant with Paula Prentiss, Bachelor in Paradise with Bob Hope and Lana Turner and Ms Prentiss, Honeymoon Machine with Steve McQueen and La Prentiss, Period of Adjustment with Jane Fonda, Subterreans with George Peppard, Major Dundee with Charlton Heston and Richard Harris, Walk Don't Run with Cary Grant, Never Too Late Connie Stevens, and Paul Ford, and two John Wayne movies The Green Berets and The Hellfighters. As the 60's drew to a close so did Hutton's fine career. Hutton died far too young at 45.

Jim Hutton had a small part in this movie - about two minutes in a two hour movie. The movie was really dominated by women. However, I will say that he looked so incredibly SEXY in his two short scenes. WOW.

It may have been a one-day job, done as a favor to Ida Lupino.

"May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?"
