The only silly scene was when .........

I loved this film and have watched it many times over the years since I first saw it in 1968.I found it very believable but I always found the curiosity of the traders daughter, just as Eve is about to get married, when she questions her about her life in the wilderness with Jean, completely over the top and her acting unnecessarily hysterical and overwrought. Why the emotion or did I miss something?

I think she envied Eve's adventure, the excitement, the man. She is obviously excited by him at the start of the movie! Must have been pretty desolate for her up there with her piano she couldn't play! She wasn't allowed to collect the mail....the only interesting day of the year in the settlement, whereas Eve had a huge adventure into womanhood, something the trader's daughter really wanted...although she is still a pain in the hole!!
