Their old number was 312-938-4222. It doesn't work anymore. They were probably getting too many angry calls and had to change it. Their old number was 312-938-4222. It doesn't work anymore. The channel is completely different now from what it set out to be originally...that and every other ƒucking commercial they play after 10pm is penis-related.
I don't know what is is, but AMC is a lost cause. They used to show John Ford and Orson Welles movies, and took care to show the widescreen format.
Today, they show full screen, commercially-interrupted, heavily edited movies. A now a majority of them have nothing to do with classics. I knew it was officially over when they debuted Catwoman. When Halle Berry in a torn catsuit showed up, things died.
I too, used to list AMC as one of my fav's. Now its just plain crap. I can see the need for a network to give in to commercialization for the sake of surviving, but now its just obviously greed. I mean, when most of the commercials are advertising AMC, whats the point? They could have at least started with LIMITED commercials. But NO. They dived in and inundated us with them. I have personally complained to my cable providor and insisted they drop this network. Disney did the same thing. I remember when the point of getting cable was because they offered more channels and SOME without commercials. Now my only solice is Turner Classic Movies. I wonder how long they can hold out.
Its awesome how we are all watching Torn Curtain on the east coast right now! I THINK (I was at my sisters for turkey day) that I saw M for Murder on widescreen on her fancy HD cable box and HD TV. So AMC may be broadcasting two specs: HD wide screen and full screen format. Technically, this is the proper way to do it so both parties get what they "paid for" for their TV. As for the commercialization, they seem to play the same stuff they used to but I agree, it has declined, I think this is mainly due to lack of viewer ship and a need for network funding. Keep in mind, cable TV is changing and channels here in Manhattan are being dropped in favor of "Smaller" cable packages where the networks are forced to provide more for select groups (similar to the internet, their biggest enemy as of now).
I looooove TCM. Comcast (here on the west coast) doesn't carry it unless you have one of the deluxe packages, though. Its bullsh*t. Cox Cable carrys it if you have expanded basic, which only requires a cable TV line. No boxes or anything special.
AMC *MUST* have a phone number, SOMEWHERE. They're too big not to. At this point it would be like Discovery or Fox not having a phone number.
Haven't noticed the penis commercials but the ones before 10 p.m. are also awful. All these really moronic people talking about their favorite movie scenes.
TCM and IFC are both great channels. They don't have commercial interruptions, don't edit, and they use the right aspect ratios. IFC isn't all classic though, but they have a good share of them. I remember catching Yojimbo on there. --- I know what gold does to men's souls.
