Liv Ullman knife wielding!

Why is Liv Ullman not credited in Torn Curtain?
There is no doubt that she is the woman with the knife in the scene with Paul Newman (when they gas the guy in the oven).....

reply

Sure looks like her, doesn't it?

But it isn't. It's American actress Carolyn Conwell, who went on to "The Young and the Restless."

Interestingly, Hitchcock tried to interest Liv Ullman in starring in a spy movie ("The Short Night") that he was preparing shortly before his death in 1980.

Ive seen Ullman in many Bergman pictures, and at no point during Torn Curtain did I think that was her.

reply

I have seen Ullmann (two L's and two N's) in many pictures, and I too was startled by the more than occasional resemblance.

reply

I'm just watching the movie right know, and I realy thought it might be Liv. They surley look like twins!

reply

Haha, I thought that was her as well! But when they showed her face for an extended period near the end of the scene, I figured it wasn't. Plus why would she even be in this movie, and speaking German? But I suppose weird things like that have happened--like Jodi Foster taking a French speaking role in A Very Long Engagement.

Somebody else even looks like YOU.
