I take it back!
I've been wanting to give Torn Curtain, one of my least favorite Hitchcock movies, ever since Paul Newman died back in September 2008. This morning I was awakened 2 hours early thanks to a noisy duck on the roof so I finally gave it another shot. Maybe I've matured as a movie fan, or maybe my standards or lower, or maybe I was just in a better mood this morning than when I first watched it (that last one is doubtful - damn duck), but it's much, much better than I remembered. It's not one of the top-tier Hitchcock classics like Vertigo or Notorious, nor is it one of my personal favorites like Rope or Frenzy. But still, it's not the unabashed failure that so many (including myself before I rewatched it) make it out to be. Anyway, if you're like I was and you hate Torn Curtain, I implore you to give it a shot. Uh oh - does this mean I have to watch Intolerance again?
What's the Spanish for drunken bum?
