One of Hitchcock Weaker Movies

Not a very good movie and highly IMDB over-rated. Per TCM, even Hitchcock stated that he was not happy with the movie. Universal Studios made him cast Newman and Andrews because they were popular at the time, but they were not who he wanted for the lead actors. He also said he didn't like the music for the film.

It's not "IMDB over-rated" at all. It's full of brilliant moments and is far better than low-attention-span movies that are dished out regularly.

The studio forced Hitchcock to cast Julie Andrews in the movie, who was a big star flooded with film-offers. Due to her other commitments, she only had a limited time to shoot for the movie. Hence the studio had to rush into production much before the schedule, while Hitchcock wanted to spend more time on the script—and that led to his resentment towards Andrews.

I had very low expectations for this film based on a lot of negative reviews, and I put off seeing this film for years, but I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. The script and direction have some genuinely suspenseful moments, Paul Newman and Julie Andrews are terrific together, and this has plenty of the trademark Hitchcock black humor. This film may not register with a lot of audiences today, but in the '60s the issues of the Cold War were harrowing for all countries involved. 9 stars out of 10.

For me it is one of Hitchcock's weaker movies, but it was still a decent film, even with the major problems it had.

Agreed. Decent and had some rather inspired moments, but still among the weakest I've seen from Hitch. I like this better than Topaz, Champagne,The Man Who Knew Too Much and The Manxman.

There are only about 7 or 8 of his films I still haven't seen, but I just received a few of those and will watch them this weekend. Including Marnie, Family Plot and a few others. Interested to find out how I like those by comparison to Torn Curtain.
