The song "Wish Me A Rainbow" was written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans. The closest match I can find to it is from a cd titled "Astrud Gilberto's Finest Hour" available from deepdiscountcd.com-Enjoy!

The song became a minor hit in 1966 by a German chorale ensemble, the Gunter-Kallman Chorus. I believe it can be found on a couple of compilation CDs. An Amazon search might turn it up.

I just listened to that version on YouTube. It has that creepy sound of being sung phonetically, with a slight accent from the singers, like ABBA. Even though the American trio Wilson Phillips speak English as a first language, their recordings have that same bizarre quality, of sounding as though they were singing the lyrics phonetically.

The difference is very small...the only place I could find the lyrics online were the ones posted previously. (Hugh X. website)

I love this movie, I think I'll keep my lyrics, even though I never did figure out what they were singing in, "Louie, Louie".

Thanks everyone! I remember the group mentioned in a previous thread singing this song back in 1966 on an easy-listening station but never knew the group's name. I thought they performed it well. Being a naive 15-year-old back then, I didn't know this song came from this movie as I had not seen it at the theatre and didn't see it until the 1990s. When I heard it being sung in the movie, it brought back memories of the mid 60s and made me again wonder what group sang it. Now I know.

Michael Feinstein does a wonderful duet version with Jay Livingston himself on the alum titled The Jay Livingston songbook.

the song was the best part of this great movie!

On some versions they were labeled The Gunther Kallmann Choir, not the Gunther Kallmann Chorus. I'm not sure why.

I like the actress Mary Badham's version the best. Her beautiful childlike voice suits the lyrics. She just shined for me in this movie.
