Made Up My Own Ending

SPOILERS BELOW, SORT OF....




I made up my own ending in my mind to this movie since it ended abruptly with
no closer. Well, at least it left me with questions.
So my ending is that Owen does go after Alva eventually, if not right that
night in the rain. And he's with her when she gets sick and dies. His feelings for her changed
but he cares about her still, so when she's sick and dying he's still attentive to her. He
doesn't marry her but she has changed him forever, like red wine poured into a glass of water. He never marries anyone in fact. He's alone the rest of his life.
And Willie is
left alone because he doesn't realize she's not with her mother. He simply assumes she's
with "Mama" and never pursues the matter.
