Who to cast in remake???

I have read a few threads here and as I was 13 when this movie hit the theaters I went to see it for Raquel Welch alone, and is the only real reason I would watch it again. It's so bad ya' almost have to have a good buzz on to enjoy it and laugh. The poster of the movie at the time drew tons of teen fellas to this flick and I'm a bit curious as to whom others could see today filling Raquel's shoes/costume??? I don't know if a reamke is in order, if they wanted to redo the story to be more like clan of the cave bear, OR? I'd like to see an attempt to remake this flick with perhaps Natasha Henstrid in the role,...or? It'd have to be campy a tad tho' intentionally this time if they are going to keep the Dino's/humans 2gether. Thoughts? Ideas?

No, no remakes. Raquel Welch is as good as you can get. There has been one sort of remake CAVEMAN, done in that campy way you talked about. A more serious film was QUEST FOR FIRE, but of course minus the dinosaurs.

Ray Harryhausen keeps indicating that because of the scientific inaccuracies with his film, (pitting cavemen and dinosaurs), he always refers to this one as a pure fantasy, and it should be looked upon that way.

I agree that the 1966 version is wonderful. I even like the 1940 version for it's remarkable FX (for it's time).

I don't understand the aversion with remakes (especially when the film in question is itself a remake). Despite one's love or nostalgia for a film the younger generations usually will not watch them. Poor production qaulity alone, compared with even today's low-budget films, makes it tough for many to sit through.

One thing a remake does is revitalize the original(s). For example, many would say not to remake Ocean's 11, "how can you do better than the Rat Pack?", but the remake was a much better film in every regard.

Also, remakes have lessoned since movie making began. We now consistantly wait a couple decades between remakes when they used to be done much sooner. With all honestly, that was mainly before the 'talkies' had full reign, movies were much shorter and less epic in nature.

I'm sick of remakes.
