When I was a kid I was really into dinosaurmovies, and I'm looking for a dinousaur-movie from the 60s. I think One Million Years B.C. (1966) is the one I'm looking for... Here on imdb.com it says that the language in the movie is English. But in the movie I'm looking for they spoke some weird language, at least in the first bits of the movie. The rest I don't remember as I was really young when watching it, but they probably spoke English the rest of the movie. So my question is: Do they speak some weird language in the first part of this movie! Thanks in advance :D
the characters in "One Million Years B.C." only speak in their simple caveman language. The only modern-day language heard is the narrarator's voice at the beginning.
Never even heard of that movie until I checked it out now...and it's definitely NOT that movie :P I'm pretty sure this is the one, I know it has some weird language, a hot blonde chick, some dinos, and it's from the 60s. I've just been too lazy to go buy the DVD...
It may also be the movie "When dinosaurs ruled the earth" which was from 1970. That movie has two snow blonde young women right at the beginning about to be sacrificed to the sun. Raquel Welch is a redhead or brunette in this one I think.
Another possibility is the Michael Rennie, "Lost World" which also starred David Hedison, IIRC. I have a memory that the "cavegirl" spoke an unknown language. Near the climax they walk thru a volcano with lizard "dinos" fighting. Could this be it?
Thanks to all of you. Due to laziness I haven't looked up either movies yet, but I will now. I remember a spesific scene where the girl is in a tree, I think she's hiding from something or someone, and a huge snake crawls around her body...ahwell...
There's so many different movies that I remember vaguely from my childhood that I would like to catch up on. Only, I have no idea what they're called. If anyone can help me, that would be awesome.
One of the movies I know for sure is called One Million Years B.C. Another is Clan of the Cave Bear.
One that I would like to see again had some dude in a cowboy hat who was with a group of people and they are hiding in a cave from a T-Rex and they set some sort of crude trap for it using a boulder and ropes I believe. After they escape the Rex, they come across a tribe of cavemen who they encountered before. The dude with the cowboy hat has a rifle and he decides against shooting them. I dunno. I remember it pretty vaguely. It may have been called The Land That Time Forgot. I looked that up on IMDB, though and the screenshots don't match my memory. I remember it being in color, but it looks b&w. Anyone know the movie I'm thinking of?
Another one involves cavemen who are traveling the land, trying to survive a time of great change, and they come across a large hole in the ground. The hole is rather deep and leads to a large cavern, which in the middle of there is a big tree that reaches up to the hole that they are looking down from. They climb onto the top of the tree and before they can climb to the bottom, a group of less evolved cavemen gather at a pond at the base of the tree to drink from it. The less evolved cavemen make a bunch of scary grunting and screaming at each other while the two cavemen in the tree watch and wait for them to leave so that they can come down and drink without confrontation. It may be a different movie altogether, but I think it ends with a huge battle between cavemen during an earthquake that is opening up large crags in the floor. Anyone know what I'm talking about??
The other great Ray Harryhausen film with cowboys and dinosaurs is The Valley of Gwangi (1969) starring James Franciscus and Gila Golan. They find a lost valley in Mexico where dinosaurs still live and they rope an Allosaurus to bring back for a circus. There is a scene where the cowboys are hiding in a cave watching Gwangi (the Allosaurus) battle a Styracosaurus. Other highlights are an Eohippus (dawn horse) that is trained to work for the circus, several encounters with other dinosaurs in the valley, and the escape of Gwangi in the town where he wreaks havoc.
Also, the movie with the girl in the tree hiding from some ape men is One Million Years B.C. (1966) which also features effects work by Ray Harryhausen. Raquel Welch is not really blonde though, more of a light brunette.
As for the truly blonde cavewoman, I'd say that may be Victoria Vetri in When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth (1970). The filmmakers created a 27-word caveman language for the film so they don't speak English either. See trivia for this film on imdb.com for the entire language. By the way, this movie was released on DVD as a Best Buy exclusive in October 2008 but quickly recalled due to the fact the package said it was rated G but contained the uncut European version of the film containing nudity.
What seems most possible is Creatures The World Forgot (1971) starring blonde (former Miss Norway) Julie Edge. There is no narration and no English dialogue. Only caveman gibberish. Also, this one has no dinosaurs (making it technically more accurate) and this film features Nala the cavegirl being attacked by a giant python! So this may indeed be the film you are remembering. The uncut version does contain some nudity too. Unfortunately, as of now it has not been released on DVD in the U.S.
Harryhausen's The Valley of Gwangi features several cowboys lassoing a T-Rex (I think it is a T-Rex, I am not up on my dinosaurs) and a group of them hide in a cave. But the rest of your description does not apply to Gwangi
The caveman movie with the big tree, battle between cavemen and the earthquake is One Million Years B.C..
"Can you conceive how lonely I am - when there is nothing that doesn't shrink from me?"
When I was a kid, I remember watching a fantasy pre-historic film, I remember only one scene from it and also it had no dialogue, could be made by Italian director, under US production.
Anyways, what I remember from that scene was that the lead cavemen of the tribe, for some reason had the women lined up, all in their fur bikini outfit (maybe to chose his “wife” or who to have sex with), he then checked (peeking under the bottom part of their fur bikini) each of the women’s bottom part.
Does anyone know this film? It’s just that this scene has been stuck in my memory for so long.

wendybrad: thank you SO much! You're right, it's When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth. I looked it up on youtube now and found some video clips. All along I thought it was One Million Years BC that I'd watched. THANKS again :)
There is also the movie which probably inspired this one but carried a slightly different title for , well, you know the reason (infringement). It was called "One Million B.C." with Lon Chaney. Thanks for the reminders though, people. I have to go get, "Caveman". "Clan of The Cave Bear" and "When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth". Tumak ug Loana! Loana ach Tumak.
There is also a movie with Dinos and cavemen, similar to "Journey to the Center Of The Earth". It's based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' "At The Earth's Core" and stars Doug McClure, Caroline Munro and Peter Cushing.
Was this the movie in which an earthquake disrupts a battle between two groups of cave people towards the end of the movie? The ground starts opening up in the middle of the fight and some of them fall in.
There is another movie of the same title but released in 1940 with Lon Chaney, Jr. and Carol Landis (the blonde). It is the original with the 1966 movie with Raquel Welch being the remake, although, it seems to be the more popular one probably due to the furry outfit (?) that Miss Welch wore so becomingly.
