Strange, fun, brilliant, love the sweater fetish

It's playing on cable tonight and every time it comes on I watch it. For a film made in 1966 it looks so dated, just think, a year later was the summer of love, the Beatles taking acid in LA and The Doors forming. It's like somebody hit a switch in 1966 and we jumped into the future, leaving Elvis and the 50's behind. Yet, in a sense, the film is futuristic. The cashmere sweater fetish scene is amazing, especially because the writer/director made it mutual and incestuous, fearlessly so, and the sweater color names are right out of J Crew catalog, amazing. The irony is, the sweater scene was without irony or parody or perversion, a lot of people have a fetish for sweaters, especially cashmere, and the two of them were rolling in it, this sensability was so far ahead of it's time that it's still ahead of it's time. Behavior like that is still in the closet, and if you tried to make that scene today it would be creepy and disturbing; no one would believe the girl would be into it and they would put the guy in jail.

I agree with all of the above. Strange, quirky, brilliant, and way way ahead of it's time. I was born in 1966, too. I just saw this on THIS network and will be looking it up on Amazon or somewhere similar.
