Is Bette the blonde sitting in the back while Max is preaching on the boat? It kinda looks like her, but her face never really is fully visible.

Yes, that is the Divine Miss M about to be sick at sea. It's the only time she is clearly recognizable.
She did film a couple of other scenes that were deleted from the original release print. She used the money she made from the film to finance her relocation to New York and eventual stardom.
