The Mansion... famous???

In the beginning of the film, Harper (Paul Newman) pulls up to the Sampson's mansion -- does anyone know if this mansion is famous? It looks like it could be Harold Lloyd's estate ("Greenacres") or maybe even Buster Keaton's Italian Villa, but I can't tell from photos, nor can I verify the shooting locations.

Can anyone help? Photographic proof would be real nice, but, hey, I'll take what I can get.

Thanks.

According to the IMDb, it's the Beverly House on North Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills, California. It's the same house used as the estate of movie producer Jack Woltz (John Marley) in "The Godfather".

It also looks a lot like the house used in Harold and Maude. When Harper pulls into the driveway area toward the beginning of the film, I thought it looked familiar. I saw Harold and Maude recently, and there's a scene that looks amazingly like that.

The address is 1011 North Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills. It recently (within the past six months) went on the market as the most expensive house in the States, for 165 million.

At one time Marion Davies (mistress of William Randolph Hearst) lived there. As well as in "The Godfather" it has been used in several other productions, notably "Into the Night." It can clearly be spotted using Google Earth or Virtual Earth. The pool is easily identifiable.

It was also used in the "Columbo" episode "Death Lends a Hand".
