Having a hard time with the ending. Spoilers.

So we're supposed to believe that Graves, a successful, financially well-off lawyer (look at his office!), had a good reason to kill Sampson. Sampson, who was his biggest client, who probably made him rich and who literally gave him Miranda, who he'd been lusting after the whole time.

Sampson was an A-hole, but Graves had been putting up with that for years already, and it came with the territory. Why kill the Golden Goose?

I'm just not buying it.

Unc John "What kind?"
Stacy "...The forever kind"

Graves also said that Sampson would never let him marry Miranda, that Sampson just essentially teased him with his beautiful daughter.

I got that the killing was kind of a impulse thing, after the hug Graves wanted her more than ever, and Sampson would never let it happen.

I didn't catch that. I'll have to see the movie again. The impulse part makes sense, especially when combined with irrational sexual desire.

While I understand your point people are killed every freakin day for stupid reasons.
For the most part capital murder is done over money, sex,(both).

I'm not buying it either. Terrible ending that caps off a terrible 2nd half, which is too bad because it was great for the first hour.

reply

I buy it but I agree with you that the ending was unsatisfactory.
