I notice Robert's normally beautiful hairy chest was shaved bald in this movie .WHY ?
shareNewman is supposed to be the virile manly character. They probably felt Wagner would be less that with a bare chest. Just a guess.

Here's what one of the crew people (an electrician) who worked on the movie told me one time (no idea whether it's true or not): During production of HARPER, Robert Wagner, Paul Newman, Arthur Hiller and director Jack Smight all got a little plastered at their hotel one night and decided to have a marathon poker game. They couldn't find any poker chips to play with, so, in desperation, they decided to use their chest hairs! -- with a 200 strand buy-in! (Ouch!)
Needless to say, Wagner got totally cleaned out and, just his luck, they were scheduled to film the pool scene the very next day.
