my dad is a huge fan of F1, in particular the 60's & 70's era...alas, he is also a huge fan of this film. i am wondering if there are any other films that even come close to this? can anyone recommend any driving films that are in the same ballpark? doesn't have to be F1 although that would be great!

The best racing movie in my opinion is "Le Mans" starring Steve McQueen. They filmed at the Le Mans circuit using actual cars from the race, no slower cars made to look like the real thing. They also entered a camera car in the race and used this footage along with the footage shot after the race. Though it only covers one race it is a great racing movie.
