32 professional racing drivers

And I thought I was doing good to name four or five. I got Phill Hill, Graham Hill,Jochen Rindt and Dan Gurney. How did you do?

reply

I can name them all, as others probably can, but who can name the journalist in the driver's meeting?

Time's up!

Bernard Cahier.

It helps that I was an F1 photojournalist with Road & Track magazine.

And the late, great Raymond Baxter ( a motor racing commentator & former rally driver, before going on to present the BBC technology programme "Tomorrow's World") was seen interviewing in the movie too.

reply

I hate you. :)

That musta been a killer job!

GP is a whose who in motorsport history.

I think Phil Hill had a career as a movie star! He actually acted...

One of the lesser-known drivers was Paul Frère, 11 GP starts, no wins but a podium (2nd). Won the 1960 24 Hours of Le Mans with countryman Olivier Gendebien and wrote many well-respected books including the benchmark reference on the development of the 911, "Porsche 911 Story." Died this past weekend at 91. One of the enduring greats, he will be missed.

I have seen also Jo Siffert, Joakim Bonnier, Lorenzo Bandini

Is it Murray Walker's voice commentating the races?

"...and if the bible has taught us anything (and it hasn't)..." Homer

reply

Jim Clark appears briefly too. It is a sad movie to watch because so many of the real-life drivers subsequently died in racing accidents.
