The 2 men in the film were not the only men in the world,and she had no special connection with the baby as though it was a relative's child. The baby would had been adopted by another couple. This didn't show Georgy growing as a person, but settling for whatever was available at the time;she was still young. It just made her seem self-indulgent.

She was too young to compromise,and Jos was right. Maybe that is the message the film is telling us under the cheerfulness and "happy ending". Jos and James were not her only 2 selections in her future.
Well, just remember that Georgy's father was constantly insulting her and making her feel like a nobody. Is it any wonder that she had no self-esteem or self-respect?
