Loved the movie except...

...the strange musical number at the party. I understand she was probably still trying to "turn off" James and it backfired, but it's so out of place with her character. I think a better scene would be her coming down the stairs with the makeup, hair, and dress, all the heads turn...then she ignores James until he gets her into his study. The song was just bizarre. She's a music expert so if the song was nicely sung and appropriate, it would have been more believable. Only one flaw in a wonderful movie....I love it, and watch every time it's on.

Obviously, she feels pressured by her father and James, quite resentful. It's sort of an "I'll show them!" moment~to be vulgar and clownish; yes, she likely believes it will be a "turn off" AND will embarrass her father.

However, she doesn't count on a certain someone finding her sexy! He's tried to get her to wear something to show off her figure, and now she has!

Georgy didn't mean to; she simply wanted to shock them but didn't think about the aftermath. We see that a lot with Georgy; she's very impulsive and quite emotional.

The song was perfect! She intended it to sound as brassy as she looks in the makeup and gaudy gown.
