Why didn't they.....
..when the sub came trapped in the venous system, why didn't they remove them and then inject them into the other carotid artery on the other side of the neck and precede that way?

Why didn't they just inject them into the ear for that matter? Or the eye? Just before the surgery, they said they were close enough to the ear to see light coming in from outside it. They could have just put them in through there.
(Yeah, I know, storytelling and all that, but when they actually take time to point out their own plotholes, it's a bit bothersome)
