Fantastic Voyage PSA?

Does anyone here remember a public service announcement (PSA) by the American Lung Association that featured actor William Redfield ("Capt. Bill Owens") piloting the Proteus through the human body? I remember seeing it back around 1971 or 1972 where the :30 second spot focused on the lungs, and the dangers of smoking. It was primarily taken from the scene in the movie where the Proteus stopped at Benes's lungs to resupply the air in the sub's tanks, and it even showed Mr. Redfield and the Proteus experiencing the patient "coughing". The PSA ended with the shot of the sub serenely floating through an artery, which also used stock footage from the movie.

I'd love to see that PSA again for the fact that 'Fantastic Voyage' has been one of my favorite movies since I first saw it on tv as a kid in the early '70s. Unfortunately, it hasn't shown up on YouTube yet, but hopefully it will someday soon.

Old post, but I had to answer this -- Fantastic Voyage is up on Youtube. Beautiful print, by the way. Now I would like to look for the Public Service Announcement.

When I was a kid, I am sure I remember seeing a cartoon version of this show. No idea how long it lasted!

Thank you for your reply, ghostfan! I was a bit too young to remember seeing the animated version of 'Fantastic Voyage', but I discovered it about five years ago, and it's become a favorite of mine. Hopefully, the PSA can be found, but since 40+ years have passed already you more than likely know that there's a distinct possibility that the print may have been destroyed.

There are advertising archives in existence, so hopefully it might be in one of them.

You're welcome. I would love to see it again myself, and checked Youtube, but no luck. I did find the animated series. It always blows me away how much voice work Ted Knight did before he became famous for playing Ted Baxter on the Mary Tyler Moore show, and his role on Too Close For Comfort. He must have done tons of them!
