No, it's perfect as it is. It would have been bad to stretch and add filler to bulk it up. That has ruined many shows!

Gotta disagree with you here. I love the original and nothing can ever touch or taint it in any way, even the live-action version (which I also love; it simply isn't better than the original). The original is perfect as-is, and the live-action version is perfect as-is. Love 'em both for totally different reasons.

why so short?

It was based on a short children's book. The animators even had to pad the story a bit just to get it to the 25 minute run time.

They added sight gags like the Grinch sawing the antlers off of the head of Max that were making him top heavy, the Whos playing with their weirdly named toys and the sleigh passing and almost running over Max as he is pulling it down the hill that weren't in the original book.

Chuck Jones tells about some of the things they did to make the story longer on the Special Edition DVD.

I go online sometimes, but everyone's spelling is really bad. It's...depressing.
