There was a nice article in my paper about how parents are breaking it to their kids that there won't be as many presents this year. One girl replied to her mom that it didn't matter if there were no gifts, that what mattered is that they are a family and are happy and get to spend Christmas together. The mom was amazed to see that her daughter really meant it. This year with so many in dire financial straits, the message of the "Grinch" is more timely than ever.
"Christmas Day is in our grasp, so long as we have hands to clasp."
